December musings...

December marks the end of the calendar year. A lot can happen in the space of a year, maybe your year has been one of ups and downs, maybe it has been plain sailing.

As you may, or may not, be reflecting on the year gone whilst contemplating the next here are few words to remind you.

A letter to remind you...

God wants you remember just how special you are. You are perfectly made lacking nothing with space to grow into everything you are yet to be.

It can sometimes be way too easy to identify all the things we think are wrong with ourselves, all the things we think we need to be to be a better version of ourselves. The truth is God wants us to look within and stop looking to the outside for validation. The more we focus on ourselves in a more positive light, the more space we give ourselves to grow.

Think of a house plant, if its growth seems to not be going how you want it to focusing on its shortcomings will not help it grow. Instead we identify what it needs to grow and honour it's needs with care and attention. The same can be said about ourselves...

House plants have no worry about what other similar plants are up to; how tall or green they are. Yes they have a blueprint to follow of what they should or could look like but each plant is unique and following it's own journey. We are the same, each and every one of us have our own unique path. Other plants are wider, some may be taller but that does not take away from our own beauty and specialness. Sometimes focusing on trying to make your plant like other plants will instead stunt its growth, instead we need to focus on giving the plant the care and attention it needs to grow into the best version of its self and no-one else. Remember this next time you compare yourself to others.
